WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

The Caring Hearts United (CHU) Fund was co-founded in 2019 by sisters Claudia, Valerie and Alicia Chu to support children with serious medical conditions and their families in Shenzhen’s Longhua District.

 

The Fund was inspired by the sisters’ belief that when a child becomes seriously ill, the impact is felt by the entire family. Working with Longhua District Charity, the CHU Fund provides support for children’s medical treatment, rehabilitation and longer-term recovery, while helping families cope with the financial and emotional pressures of caring for a sick child.

 

Since 2024, their cousin Caitlin Tsai has carried this mission forward as Programme Director and Committee Member of the Fund. Having participated in its activities from a young age, Caitlin is now leading its next phase of community programmes and encouraging more young people to become involved in charitable work.

Since its establishment, the CHU Fund has raised more than RMB1.54 million to support children with serious illnesses and disabilities, as well as families facing financial hardship.

In 2026, under Caitlin’s leadership, the Fund expanded its work with a new programme for premature babies and their families in Longhua District. The programme will support medical treatment, post-discharge rehabilitation and families’ longer-term care needs. It will also provide home visits, emotional support and caregiving guidance, combining financial assistance with practical services.

Through this work, the CHU Fund aims to help more than individual children. It seeks to give their families greater strength, hope and confidence for the journey ahead.
